description

Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-kun is a popular action game series that debuted in 1986. And now the “win-through fighting” from the series’ most popular title Downtown Nekketsu Koushinkyoku: Soreyuke Daiundoukai returns with significant enhancements!

While the controls remain the same, all other aspects have been significantly enhanced. There are over 180 characters, over 250 special moves, over 30 teams, and more.

The cute pixelated characters of yesteryear flood the screen for a major brawl. Up to four players can play together, so fight alongside your family and friends!

Additionally, you can play against players all over the world in online battles. Climb your way to the top by mowing down rivals in major brawls involving the whole world.

A Hot-Blooded High School Story
A few days after the Great Athletic Meet held by Todou of Reihou Academy, a poster reading “A Melee Tournament will be Held” was posted in town…

Meanwhile, there have been repeated incidents in which high school students in the area have been attacked. Due to the timing, everyone was suspicious that the attacks and the melee tournament were somehow related…

In order to uncover the truth of the matter, Kunio, who also found it suspicious, gathers up the strongest members of his hot-blooded high school to participate in the melee tournament…

RIVER CITY
just like the other games that are in the River City titles its always fun and a great game to pick up and play when you only have 10-30 mins to play a game.

Standard 8 bit brawler
Its a trend with these 8 bit looking retro titles. Dont expect more as it is your typical button mashing, side side scrolling brawler. Fun if you are feeling nostalgic and need a quick beat em up to play.

Great Game
If you're a Kunio fan, you'll get some fun out of this one. Tons of references to the entire series, as there are over 30 teams to play as. They're all themed after the different high schools, or even other games. For instance, there is a team made up of characters from the fantasy spin-off from 3DS, and another based off the Downtown Nekketsu Special on Famicom (the historical, samurai themed game). There are teams of characters from the sports games, and all sorts of entries as well.

What do these teams do? They fight in a 4-player rumble where mechanically it plays like a River City game, only you're beating up on other main characters for points. The story mode is beefy with multiple difficulties and each team has their own plot to follow that take around a half hour to complete.

Outside of the story mode are three other optional modes: Battle Royale, Endless fight, and Team fights. These are all multiplayer focused, but can be played solo, too, with unlockable teams from story mode that can only be used in these modes. Each character has their own unique skills, stats, and HP, so choosing which team member to enter each round is part of the strategy.

All in all, this is a great fanservice game with plenty of content, although you might get burned out quickly playing solo. Much more fun with a friend or two. Highly recommended for Kunio fans.
